Staffed villas in Marrakech: what is included in your stay?

A team that maintains the house, breakfast prepared on request and a chef for selected meals are different arrangements. Before choosing a staffed villa, clarify who will be there, what they will do, when they will visit and what your proposal includes.

Start with the roles described, not the word “staffed”

The staffed villa selection helps identify properties to explore. It does not mean every house provides the same services. Read the individual property description and compare it with the way you would like to spend your stay.

Housekeeping does not mean meals will be prepared. A caretaker's presence does not establish a cooking service, and someone responsible for the garden or pool may not handle other tasks. Nor should “staff on site” be read as round-the-clock availability.

Roles and services to clarify
Role or requirement What to distinguish Questions to ask
Housekeeping Cleaning bedrooms and living spaces Which areas are covered? How often and at what times? Is the service included?
Garden and pool Maintaining outdoor areas and the pool Which visits are planned during the stay, and how will they be arranged?
Meal preparation Breakfast, everyday cooking or an occasional meal Which meals can be prepared, for how many people and under what arrangement?
Private chef A service to clarify separately Availability for your dates, menus, preparation, service and any extra charge: what does the quote cover?
Groceries and ingredients Buying products and arranging supplies Who shops, using which list? Are ingredients and the shopping service included?
Assistance and concierge services A contact person and services to arrange Who can you contact, for what and at which times? Which requests require a booking or quotation?

An example: reading Villa Lucie's description

The description of Villa Lucie describes daily housekeeping for bedrooms and living spaces, together with garden and pool maintenance. It lists breakfast on request and the option of arranging a private chef through the concierge service separately.

This distinction helps frame the right question: which services will be included in your stay, and at what price? The description itself asks you to confirm hours, tasks, inclusions, availability and additional charges. These references should not be turned into an “all-inclusive” package.

This is an example of how to read a listing, not an arrangement shared by every villa. Always check the property you are considering and the proposal for your dates.

Plan meals as part of the stay

Would you mainly like breakfast at the villa, a few dinners prepared there or more meals at home? Describing that pattern is more useful than simply requesting “a chef”.

Explain the meals you have in mind, dates, number of adults and children, and preferences to discuss. Preparation, ingredients, service and shopping should be clarified separately whenever the proposal does not already spell them out. For a particular dietary requirement, ask what the provider can actually accommodate; do not treat it as agreed before confirmation.

A private chef and pre-arrival grocery shopping are offered on quotation through the concierge service. Requesting them does not automatically add them to the villa's price or confirm their availability.

Clarify timing as well as tasks

A daily visit does not mean someone is present all day. Before choosing a house, compare the proposed schedule with your plans for rest, meals, outings and shared spaces.

Ask how visits will be organised while you are there, what is included and who handles additional requests. The aim is to understand how the house operates, without expecting one person to perform roles that have not been agreed.

Describe the way you would like to stay

Gather your dates, length of stay, group details and bedroom requirements. Then set out your staff and meal preferences, distinguishing priorities from optional extras.

The form's budget field is for the whole villa in euros per night, excluding extras, and remains optional. Use the message to explain the services you would like. Our villa budget guide sets out the items to compare in a proposal.

A message you can adapt

We are planning [number] nights for [group], on [dates]. We would like a villa with [housekeeping needs] and would like to arrange [breakfasts or meals] for [number] people. Could you clarify the planned visits, hours, what is included and which services need a separate quote? Our accommodation budget is [amount or “to be discussed”] euros per night for the whole villa, excluding extras.

An enquiry does not confirm a booking. The selected services, their conditions and availability need to be specified for your stay.
